From ManxWiki
Manannan is the newest addition to The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company's fleet, entering service during May 2009 replacing the current seasonal vessel Viking.

Brief History
The ship was built in Tasmania in November 1998 by Australian firm InCat. Following a short period of commercial service in Australia and New Zealand she was chartered to the US military for evaluation purposes in 2001, being deployed in the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and other US Army operations.
In 2008 the ship was purchased by the Steam Packet and in July 2008 began a month long 11,868 mile journey from Tasmania to Portsmouth where she entered dry dock to undergo a major refit to prepare her to enter passenger services in Summer 2009.
Manannan arrived in Douglas Harbour at 9.30am on Monday 11th May 2009 for berthing practice, crew training and special tours, entering passenger service on Friday 22nd May 2009 with the 07:30 Douglas to Liverpool Crossing.
