Sam is best known for her appearance on the 2008 BBC 1 singing contest I'd Do Anything, where she finished in a credible third place.

Isle of Sam

During the course of the show, the then-tourism minister Adrian Earnshaw controversially changed the Isle of Man's name to the Isle Of Sam. Although this was intended and taken by some to be a light hearted show of support for Sam by the island, others saw it as a misguided and embarrassing publicity stunt.
