Talk:Millennium Way
From ManxWiki
Is there a detailed online map of the Millenium Way walk? Have walked stages of it and also missed some signposts - some damaged, laying around in pieces (especially near the fields south of St. Lukes church).
Thanks, Bill bille@manx.net
- The best online map I know of is on IOM Guide.com, you would need OS Map 95 to compare the route or the 2 piece (north and south) map called Public Footpaths (or similar) This contains all the island's rights of way. When I can find my copy I will generate a GoogleMap for this page that shows all the waypoints and can be zoomed in and out. MarkAtherton 08:51, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
The maps Mark mentions are produced by the IOM Government and are actually called 'PUBLIC RIGHTS OF WAY and Outdoor Leisure Map'. They're to the scale of 1:25000 (same as the OS Explorer/Outdoor Leisure maps) and they cover the whole island in two maps (North & South). They're available at most good newsagents/bookshops on the island (and often on the ferry) - I last bought one in 2007 for £6 - a bargain if there ever was one (you get both North & South for this price). As a hiker the OS 95 map isn't really much good as the scale isn't detailed enough. Harvey's do a Superwalker map at 1:30000 scale which is not as readily available on the island as the North/South map is so I'd recommend you look for it online or order via you're local bookshop.
